Sweat It Out at Massey's Landing!

You'll never have to sacrifice your fitness goals at Massey's Landing...we're all about the work hard, play hard lifestyle!

Get ready to stay active, relax and unwind at during your stay in our cottages or on our campground with these #ResortFitness2017 tips:

  • Before You Get Here - Move!

That’s right; Massey's Landing is looking out for you before you even step foot on the property!

There are so many articles about the dangers of long periods of sitting (see: this, this and this), side effects include chronic pain, back pain, spine injury, and slower metabolism. That’s why it’s so important to be conscious of how long you’ll be seated while en route to vacation.

Our tip: make your goal to break up your drive to Massey's Landing with 30 minute breaks every 1.5 hours.

Use this time to stretch, exercise (walking around or light calisthenics), and grab a light snack if you need it.

  • Get #Amped2Camp by Planning Ahead

You’re in luck at Massey's Landing, because you’ll never run out of something fun to do that’s sure to burn calories and keep you, your family or your friends active.

Here is a quick list of our favorites:

Pro-tip: While we have much of the fitness gear you’ll need, if you’re more comfortable with your own – don’t forget to pack it! Click here for a Resort Fitness 2017 packing list.

  • Set #ResortFitnessGoals

Wellness and vacation do not have to be mutually exclusive. With apps, wristbands and smartphones it’s effortless to keep track of your activity (steps, heart rate, calories).

Start the morning with a personal goal, formulate a plan, and own the day.

Pro-tip: Challenge your vacation buddies to an activity – a little competition is always fun!

  • Get those Zzzz’s

Sleep is critical to maintain physical and mental health – especially on vacation. Between the drive, set-up and hours spent in the sun, you and your crew will be wiped out!

Aim for at least 8 hours a night to feel rejuvenated by the start of each new day.

See, staying fit at Massey's Landing is completely doable and practically stress-free! With the Resort offering a wide variety of amenities, we can fully accommodate your healthy lifestyle.

Help Plug Your Kids Back into Nature

As warmer weather hits and summer vacation looms on the horizon, it’s important to get back to basics with your kids by unplugging. Based on research , children aged right to 18 spend an average of eight and a half hours a day in front of a screen. Kids are so glued to their screens; they’ve started multi-screening: using more than one device at the same time, for example, watching TV while surfin...

Splash Around! 5 Must Play Pool Games

Did you know? Our huge pool will beat the heat and please campers of all ages. We feature a peaceful adults-only pool area and a cool pool bar for those over 21, plus a huge section where the kids can splash, jump and play Marco Polo from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (at night, the water is heated).

For kids and adults who are still a child at heart, here are our top 5 pool games:

  1. Dolphin Races

Gather 3-5 people at one end of the pool. Have one person be the mermaid; they’ll call the race. Countdown 3,2,1 and then the “dolphins” will take a gulp of air and see who can swim the longest underwater. Winner gets to be the mermaid!

  1. Marco Polo

A real summertime classic that’s fun to play with a large group. “It” closes their eyes and yells “MARCO!” while the rest scream “POLO!” and move around the pool to avoid being caught.

  1. Bouy Bop

Think boardwalk whack-a-mole….but in the pool! “It” grabs a noodle and tries to tag players when they pop up. Once a player is tagged, they must trade spots with “It.” This game is perfect for small groups.

  1. Pirates Treasure

Grab a few sinkable items (diving sticks or rings, coins, and small toys) and toss them in the pool. Have participants grab a pair of goggles and race to find and pick up each object first. The person who collects the most objects wins!

  1. Sharks and Minnows

Is there anything better than a fierce competition of sharks and minnows? Probably not. You’ll need one shark and many minnows. The shark will stand in the middle of the pool with the minnows on one end. “It” will yell "fishy, fishy, cross my ocean," when the minnows hear this call they swim across the pool. As the shark tags each minnow, they’ll join #TeamShark. The last remaining Minnow is the winner.

Those are our top 5 favorite pool games, what are yours?
