Camping This Fall: Gear You’ll Need

Camping This Fall: Gear You’ll Need

delaware campgrounds

With the summer heat in full swing, we can’t help but get excited for crispy fall mornings and cool bike rides around Massey’s Landing. Before you hit the road to visit us or your favorite campground, here are a few things you might want to bring along to make chilly temperatures part of the excitement.

  1. Clothes for layering

Cool mornings, warm afternoons and chilly nights are the go to temperature patterns in the fall at Massey’s Landing and around the Mid-Atlantic area. That means you’ll want to pack layers including:

         Tops:

  • Insulated sweaters
  • Windbreakers
  • T-shirts
  • Waterproof outerwear
  • Long-sleeve tops

         Bottoms:

  • Long underwear
  • Jeans
  • Light athletic pants

         Feet:

  • Thick socks
  • Light socks
  • Closed-toe shoes

2. Warm Sleeping Arrangements

At Massey’s Landing we have a variety of camping accommodations from tent sites, to RV areas to cottages. Depending on how you’ll be staying this fall, our recommendation is to bring more snuggly gear if you plan to sleep among the stars or in an RV. Gear could include

  • Insulated sleeping bag
  • Quilts and blankets
  • Sleeping pad
  • Hand and feet warmers
  • Tarp
  • Hot water bottles

3. Hearty Foods

Give yourself permission to eat snacks, fats and carbs. Chilly temperatures mean your body will be working hard to maintain heat while engaging in all the physical activity you’ll do while camping. Hearty, warm meals can help boost your physical and mental state. Try a few of these delicious fall camping meals.
